ICT professionals are important and in demand. But who trains new holders of expertise in the field of marketing and computer science?
Technology and design come together in the field of mediamatics. Our apprentices are active in design and on the other hand also get to know the commercial side of the media industry. Joel has just started his final year and is talking about his career so far at jls.
Design, Communication and Computer Science
«As a mediamatist, I can be used in a variety of ways,» Joel says, happy about the variety of options with his career. His interest in the digital age and motivation to learn are the key factors in his apprenticeship. In today’s age of social media and digitisation, experts with communication and design skills as well as computer science skills are in demand. Medimatists know everything about producing and using multimedia. Basically, mediamatists work at the interface between management, marketing and IT. «I edit images, text and videos, assist with website maintenance or produce a variety of promotional materials. Every day I get to learn new things, the variety always keeps me interested every day!»
Independence, connected thinking and creativity
«To carry out the everyday tasks of a mediamatist, independence, networked thinking and creativity are a must,» Joel continues. This underlines how the apprentice from Entlebuch likes to work. Because he likes it when he can contribute his own ideas and let his creativity run wild.
A mediamatic apprenticeship at the jls
«During my time at jls, I am getting an insight into every area of the company.» Joel is getting to know the work content in HR/sourcing, in our motion design department, with the interaction designers and developers, in project management of various projects and in marketing. This does not just include a variety of administrative tasks, such as interaction design, editing images and videos, creating animation, customer consulting, device configuration, software development, project management and much more. Joel is of the firm belief that he can best implement and deepen his theoretically acquired knowledge in everyday work. «I have seen a great deal of progress, especially in video production and programming. In these areas, it makes a key difference whether the topic is dealt with theoretically or applied in practice»
