Commercial (KV) specialists carry out administrative work of any kind and are essential for companies. But how is this important craft taught at jls?
KV trainees deal with various tasks during their apprenticeship. Their main tasks include learning the basics of commerce and administration. They also take care of creating quotes and invoices, maintaining customer contacts and warehouse management. They also handle marketing orders and campaigns.
Basic commercial training provides the ideal basis for further professional development and leaves open a wide range of development opportunities. Elio is currently in his second of three years on his apprenticeship and talks about his previous experience at jls.
Administrative work
«As a KV apprentice at jls, I am expected to have a basic understanding of digital work equipment, good teamwork, basic numeracy skills and a precise way of working,» Elio says. The verification and completion of payment transactions are routine matters in his professional field. With numbers on orders and invoices, one typo can make a big difference, so working accurately and carefully is important.
In the administrative task area, there are always spurts of increased workload, e.g. as soon as the monthly accounts are due. However, according to Elio, this makes for an interesting workday.
Current role at Creative Advisory
Elio currently works in the «Creative Advisory» department and helps with the design and implementation of digital communication. These include campaign management, social media marketing and communications consulting. The communication consultants plan ads, they check them and discuss them with customers as they always target specific groups and channels. They act as an internal link between our customers and what we create. One of his current tasks is to put ad through their paces and, if necessary, to action any corrections. If the ad passes quality control, it is delivered to the respective customers.
Commercial apprenticeship at jls
«At jls, I appreciate the cultivated interaction with employees, the good opportunities for promotion and the flexible working hours,» says Elio. Until now, Elio has been able to gain insights in the accounting and creative advisory departments. In accounting, he monitored inventories, entered and created invoices, ordered and shipped goods and maintained employee needs. In communication consulting (Creative Advisory), he is involved in the creation, correction and approval of ads, he leads customer discussions, sends finished ad to the customer for acceptance and then posts them. Later on, he will also work in the Marketing department. A previous highlight of Elio’s apprenticeship was that he was able to contribute to his first successful financial statement. Elio tells us about another highlight: «Being part of the ‘Office Redesign’ project and being able to take the first steps was a lot of fun.»
